Product Description
This isn't your ordinary dinosaur research report! Oh no, it's a battle of epic proportions. Students will research a dinosaur, with a focus on its strengths and weaknesses as hunter or defender, and then pair up with a peer to put their dinosaurs in an imaginary head to head battle. Students will need to utilize their critical thinking skills in conjunction with their acquired knowledge to discuss what a battle between their two beasts would have looked like. Ultimately, students will transfer their research and their discussions into a written narrative piece.

This resource gives you all of the elements that you need to lead your students:

* A SUPER descriptive Research Project Outline that will guide you through the steps to success. The outline also includes links to videos that you can use to "hook" your students and websites that would be perfect for their research.

* Graphic organizers for your dinosaur researchers to record notes about their dinsoaurs' name, habitat, time period, diet, physical attributes, speed, agility, and whether they lived in packs. There is a SINGLE generic graphic organizer and FIFTEEN organizers unique to a specific dinosaur. There are organizers for allosaurus, ankylosaurus, apotosaurus, brachiosaurus, diplodocus, hadrosaur, iguanodon, oviraptor, parasaurolophus, pteranodon, spinosaurus, stegosaurus, triceratops, tyrannosaurus rex, and velociraptor. Each organizer has both the dinosaur's name and a picture of it.

* Graphic organizer to guide students in their head to head battle. The organizer has questions for the students to answer as well as spaces for them to record their ideas.

* There is also a page of descriptive words that students can use in their final narrative writing and a page for writing their final report.

My fifth graders LOVED every minute of this project!
