This worksheet is a FUN in-class activity practicing rgegular verb conjugations for -ar verbs in the preterite tense. Students set up a playing board by conjugating verbs based on the x-axis (subject pronouns) and the y-axis (regular -ar verbs). Then take turns conjugating to guess the location of their opponents' ships.
The first time you play this activity with your class you should model how to set the board up. That takes about 5-10 min. depending on your class. It takes anywhere from 15-30 min. for individual students to set up his/her board and 20-30 min. to play. You can group students my ability levels to avoid non-busy time. You could also have students set up their board for homework.
You can change the verbs to practice any other tense or set of words specific to your curriculum. I have battleship boards for stem-changing verbs, regular preterite and irregular preterite verbs.
