Students will select a bat and make a fact family with the three numbers on their chosen bat. Fact families will allow students to practice addition facts 1-20. They will gain an understanding of the facts that make up a fact family and how these facts represent the part, part, and whole relationship between the numbers. This activity can be done with first and second graders and other students to improve their fact fluency and understanding of part-part-whole relationships. This activity can be used in whole group, small group, or as a math station.
