Product Description
Sportsmanship is everywhere. From competitive athletics, to board games, to spelling bees, it touches on each and every student. I created this activity pack with fourth and fifth graders in mind, but the activities will work well for students in 3rd-6th grade. It includes the following:

Idiom Dominos
Students play a game in a domino-like-way while learning idioms that are commonly associated with sportsmanship. This activity includes 21 dominos (20 idioms and meanings).
Common Core Language Standards: L.3.5, L.4.5, L.5.5, L.6.5

Good Sport Posters and Rubric
This activity includes four posters about sportsmanship: Play Fairly, Follow the Rules, Be Supportive, and Show Respect. The rubric uses a four-point rating scale and can be used to collect data for five sessions.
Common Core Speaking and Listening Standards: SL.3.1, SL.4.1, SL.5.1, SL.6.1

Good Sport vs Bad Sport
This activity includes 2 sorting mats and 20 phrases that reflect being a good sport and being a sore loser. Students read and then chose on which mat the sentences belong.
Common Core Speaking and Listening Standards: SL.3.1, SL.4.1, SL.5.1, SL.6.1

Sportsmanship Cause-Effect
Students match12 poor sport and 12 good sport cause/effect scenarios.
Common Core Reading Literature Standard: RL.3.3
Common Core Reading Informational Text Standards: RI.4.5, RI.5.5
Common Core Speaking and Listening Standards: SL.6.3

Compromise
This is my favorite activity! It includes a COMPROMISE visual and 2 compromise flow-charts. The flow-charts break down the complex idea of compromise when two or more people want the same thing AND when two or more people want something different. The game for this activity uses a party-planning guide, and 16 picture cards. As a group, students must plan a party, deciding on one food, one drink, one game, and one activity (all of which are on the picture cards.) Students must negotiate compromises in this activity.
Common Core Reading Literature Standard: RL.3.3
Common Core Reading Informational Text Standards: RI.4.5, RI.5.5
Common Core Speaking and Listening Standards: SL.6.3

Sportsmanship Awards
This activity includes 2 award templates. Students recognize peers for showing good sportsmanship.
Common Core Speaking and Listening Standards: SL.3.1, SL.4.1, SL.5.1, SL.6.1
