Be The Test Maker - An ELA Enrichment Activity
Sick of giving your students tests? Are your students sick of taking tests? Of course tests are necessary, but some students may need something a little different to challenge their thinking and demonstrate mastery of standards. This is the perfect product to use as an enrichment for students in grades 3-6.
This product works with any ELA passage or book. There are a ton of options for free on TpT, and I also provide a list of other resources for you to use such as your leveled readers, passages found on ReadWorks or NewsELA.
Choose 1-4 standards you want your students to focus on. Plug them in using the Editable template (will need PowerPoint or Google Slides to edit). Then print & go!
Students will use their background knowledge of what an ELA test looks like, and choose several different types of questions to build their very own test. You can have the students give their test to their peers and allow them to be the teacher! Not only does this activity help students become experts on the standards and what they're actually saying, it helps them get into the minds of the "test makers" as they create their own test based on text evidence.
Your students will have so much fun they'll forget they're learning :)
