This file contains two games which give students practice in converting metric units of length (meters, centimeters, and millimeters). An optional conversion table for students to fill in for use with Game 1 is included. Game 2 is a little more challenging than the first in that it does require students to convert measurements to decimals (9 mm=0.9 cm) for four of the measurements. Answer keys for both games are included.
Directions: Player A rolls two dice and finds the sum. Find the measurement that is next to the sum. Use a marker to cover the equivalent measurement on the Game Board. Player B takes a turn.
If the equivalent measurement already has a marker on it, the player can BUMP the marker off of the board and replace it with his/her own marker. Once a player has put two markers on a space, the space is LOCKED and markers can no longer be BUMPED. The player who places all ten markers on the Game Board first is the winner!
These games are great practice for any student practicing conversions and are aligned with Virginia math SOL 4.7b. The games are fun to use as math centers and as review before tests.
