Product Description
Using lima beans, students will learn about parts of a seed, the life cycle of a bean plant, the structures that a flowering plant has, vocabulary words, and they will complete a seed dissection and observation growing activity.

After soaking lima beans, students will carefully pull off its seed coat, and open it up to examine inside. They will create a half sheet flip poster about the three parts of the seed. Information slides are included for the poster activity. Students will then begin to grow a lima bean seed, recording their observations in the included mini observation journal.

Also included is a seed vocabulary pocket activity. Using the included definition cards, students will learn the definitions for the following seed words:

cotyledon
embryo
fruit
germinate
leaves
root
seeds
stems

Students will create a circle book to learn about the life cycle of a flowering bean plant. Information slides are included for this project.

To learn about the different structures of a flowering plant, students will create a flip poster drawing and writing about the structures. Information cards are included for this activity. To review the structures, there is a group picture book project. Students work in groups to create a picture book about the structures of a bean plant. Paragraphs are included for students to read and use for their picture book (although writing their own is always encouraged!)

Finally students can review by playing a class Bingo game (use Skittles as markers - fun and delicious) and taking a very short multiple choice assessment.
