If you like Bear About Town but don't have enough activities to go with your read alouds, here is a simple and fun activity to go with your story. Activity is included in English and Spanish. This activity can hit three concepts with one stone: ELA/SLA, Math and Social Studies by informally assessing story recall sequence, ordinal names, days of the week and discuss the places in the community. Have the students color, cut and paste the places Bear visited throughout the week onto an ordinal sequence table. Students will become familiar with counting in ordinal form in English and Spanish with this activity aside from penmanship practicing how to write ordinals and the days of the week that correspond. Your students will also be using one to one correspondence when they match the day with the place Bear visited by gluing them onto the activity sheet. Students will also be recalling the names of the days of the week and practicing writing them out. It can also be used as an informal assessment for story recall sequence, ordinal names, and days of the week.
