Who doesn't LOVE Bear and all of his friends? I made this unit to go along with the book Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.
Describe that Character:
Students can read the sentences and decide which character it is describing. Cut and glue onto the paper under the correct character.
Noun, Verb, Adjective:
Students can sort the words into nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Some words can be both adjectives or verbs. Check through the story to see how they are used. They can use the recording sheet to record answers.
1. Make copies of the book for students. Easy to copy. Just run them through and staple. Each set makes two books.
2. Give each student the sequencing page with words.
3. Read through the sentences and put them in order of the events of the story. Cut and glue into book.
4. On the last page, students can draw the other characters sleeping next to Bear.
Use the questioning cards whole group and get students thinking beyond the text. Or, use the writing paper to have students respond to one of the questions and draw a picture to go with their writing.
