To prepare and assemble: Print pages 3-10 of this material. Leave page 10 “as is”. Cut apart small pictures (on page 9) and cut apart pages 3-9. Laminate for durability, if desired. Attach the small pictures from page 9 to the empty boxes on page 10 with Velcro. Stack the book pages onto page 10, using the numbers in the lower left corner on each page. Attach these pages together with metal rings.
To use: Have students read through the story “Bear Stays Up for Christmas” by Karma Wilson. As they read through the story, they can use the companion book pages to follow along so that the book is interactive for story retelling. As another option, students can use the book to retell the story after they have finished reading it.
