Bears are fascinating to read about, but buying class sets of books can be quite expensive! This nonfiction text unit on bears may help. It would be a great addition to a nonfiction text study, animal unit, or winter unit.
The following species are discussed: American black bear, Asiatic black bear, brown bear, grizzly bear, giant panda, polar bear, sloth bear, spectacled bear, and the sun bear. Readers will be introduced many scientific terms in the text. They will be in bold print and a glossary is included for these terms: aggressive, bipedal, camouflage, captivity, carnivorous, carrion, endangered species, forage, gorge, habitat, hibernate, hibernation, insectivore, livestock, muzzle, nocturnal, omnivore, species, subspecies, and versatile.
This book study includes:
-12 full color pages of nonfiction text about bears with bold text and a glossary
-the same text appears in a black and white, printable booklet format (Now students can ALL have their own copy of the text!)
-T-chart on unique traits of each species
-Venn of American Black Bears and Giant Pandas with optional cut and paste statements and answer key
-comprehension test with 14 multiple choice literal comprehension questions and answer key
