The "Beat the Clock: Addition within 20"
game is a PowerPoint presentation based game that has students try and "beat" the clock by solving the addition equations before the answer appears on the screen. The version of this activity being downloaded has the timer set to 5 seconds per question slide and additional 5 seconds before the answer is shown. This allows students to have 10 seconds of being able to use their mental math strategies to solve the given addition equations. The addition equations are single digits with sums to 20 (i.e., up to 9+9).
Is a recording sheet included?
Accompanying the game is a recording sheet along with an answer key. Students are asked to check over their answers and record whether the answer they have written is correct or incorrect.
Can the questions be changed?
Since this activity is in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, the questions and answers can be changed. However, the background format of the slides cannot be changed, nor can the clipart. The font used in this game is Avenir Next.
