The Teaching Love Fest

This is a fun game to help your students practice solidify, and understand place value. The teacher either rolls a die or draws number cards and says the number aloud to the class. The student then puts the number in whichever place value they think will help them make the biggest number. The teacher is also filling out his/her own number. After all the slots are filled, the teacher shows their number to the class. Every student who has a number bigger than the teacher gets 10 points. If they have the same number they get 7 points. If it's smaller they get 0 points. If no student has a bigger number than the teacher, the teacher gets 20 points!

Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
