Product Description
This is one of my favorite novel units! Disney did an amazing job creating a novelization of Beauty and the Beast. It’s not silly or juvenile; it’s wonderful, and my students loved reading it!

In this novel unit, you will find:

Character Chart & Answer Key: This chart can be added to throughout entire novel.

Summary and Major Plot Points Chart & Answer Key: This chart can be added to throughout entire novel.

Great Chapter Vocabulary with Page Numbers: It’s up to the teacher how these words are taught. I had each student choose 3 words from each chapter to learn. That way, it was differentiated, individualized, etc.

Chapter Check-Ups (one for every 2 chapters) & Answer Key: After reading every two chapters, I quizzed students to make sure they completed the reading. These are mostly literal questions.

Activity - Citing Evidence of Fairy Tale Elements: This chart can be added to throughout entire novel OR it can be used as a novel project or game after the reading is completed.

Activity - Critical Thinking Discussion Cards: These are discussion prompts that will get students to think deeply, critically, and creatively about the novel. I use these after the novel is finished.

Activity - Compare & Contrast Novel with Movie Version: We watched the Disney movie after reading the novel to find and discuss differences.

----------------

Before reading this novel, I did a two-week Fairy Tale unit with my class! We covered fairy tale elements, fractured fairy tales, and the lost art of storytelling. Check it out here!
