Because of Winn Dixie is a delightful story about a young girl who learns about life and makes new friends because of a dog she adopts. If your students are dog lovers, they will enjoy this tale by Kate DeCamillo.
This resource is very comprehensive and includes activities for a Reader's Notebook as well as Literacy Center activities. Written on half sheets, the reader's notebook includes comprehension questions, cause and effect, rhyme time, synonym match up, fluency practice, story elements, homonym activity,character traits, Who said it?, and quotation mark practice . Writing activities include writing captions for parts of the story, and a narrative writing option. Use all, or choose the ones you feel are important.
The Literacy Center Activities include vocabulary cards, abc order, writing sentences, parts of speech practice, syllable practice, and a story map for cause and effect. Also included is a bookmark and a sequencing activity.
