Questions are included for each chapter. Different types of questions are used. Some answers are directly in the text. Others require students to combine what they read with their own background knowledge. Still others require readers to make connections to their own lives and express how they feel about what they are reading. There is possibly enough space for students to write answers on the print out. I had my students write the answers in complete sentences in their notebooks. The questions could be copied from a board or numbered to be answered accordingly. These chapter questions could be used to guide a whole class, small reading group, or individual student.
The comprehension test is made up of the questions from the chapters that were key to the plot and themes of the book. An answer key is provided for the chapter questions and test answers can be found there also. I had discussed the questions and answers with the reading groups so they knew the appropriate answers and could use their chapter questions as a study guide for the test.
