Students learn to summarize current events through the use of games and graphics organizers. Three levels of scaffolding are suggested, but resources can easily be customized. Diagrams for presentations, examples, a rubric, and scoring rules are all included. Scoring rules encourage students to be specific, look for cause-and-effect relationships, and make inferences (optional). Developed for use in social studies and computer literacy classrooms but also useful for English/language arts and any classroom that involves a discussion of current events. Legacy .doc file will open in pre-2003 or new MS Word, or easily upload and convert to Google Docs.
