This is designed as a training for all educators to help them understand that trauma-suffering is not always visible, and students are often experiencing difficulties that no one knows about. Faculty will become familiar with the ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) study and understand the impact these experiences have on mental, emotional and physical health and development. Participants will gain an understanding of the difference between sympathy and empathy, and will realize that one of the most important factors in fostering resiliency is having a good connection with at least one trusted adult. For many kids, school may be their only opportunity for a stable environment with a caring adult, and educators can be the ones to provide that for students.
