This unit has been written to provide information and activities to help children understand about flowers, bees, pollination and the production of honey.
The unit is in two parts. ‘Worksheets and Activities’ and ‘Planning and Links’.
Although the unit has a science bias there are suggestions for literacy, drama, art and maths. These resources should enable educators to run a comprehensive study on the honeybee and its important role. This could provide a whole term of study and activity. I have tried to ensure the activities are easy to use and resource. They are varied to maintain interest and although they are pitched at an 8 to 12 Year old level they can easily be modified for both younger and older children.
Each activity has a teacher sheet (T) and a corresponding student sheet (S) which are numbered.
This unit can be used in its entirety or parts can be extracted and used and children's interest supported using other resources.
The links offer a vast amount of extra information, resources and activities. They were all accessible at the time of producing this unit.
I hope this unit inspires you and your students to find out more about the magical balance in nature and the importance of these special honeybees.
