Directions for Playing the Game
1. Print off cards onto card stock, place into sheet protector or laminate for durability. Note: A sheet protector works well because you can replace it when it gets dirty.
2. Players roll six sided dice to see who goes first.
3. Player one rolls the dice. They then choose a problem in the corresponding column of the number they rolled. They try to answer the problem. If correct, they place a counter on the square. Note: You can also use different colors of dry erase markers to mark the squares. A different color is needed for each player up to three maximum.
4. Play continues until one player gets four squares in a row either down, across, or diagonally. That player is the winner of the game.
5. This game is good for math centers as it does not require much direction from the teacher.
6. This game uses mental math skills which is essential for students to learn if they are to advance in math as they get older.
7. This game is good for a higher achieving student to work with a lower achieving student. The higher achieving student can help the lower achieving student.
NOTE: There are seven different game boards so that more than one group of students can be playing the game at the same time. Each board has up to 36 different problems on it. There are not any duplicates. This game is intended to help students with their mental math skills as the problems are intended to be solved in the students head rather than using pencil and paper. If you print the cards onto card stock and then place them into a sheet protector rather than laminate, you can replace the sheet protector when it gets dirty, Also, you can use a different color of dry erase marker for each player on one game board and they can use that marker to mark their square on the board.
