Includes 20 very realistic scenarios that I see often in my beginner instrumental music classes. You could use them as a Bell Ringer: post a “What’s your advice?” question on the whiteboard at the beginning of class as students enter. I give students a few minutes to think of what their advice would be. I like to do these as a Think/Pair/Share activity, so students can have time to think, talk with a partner, then have a quick whole class discussion.
I find it is a great way to remind students of appropriate behaviour and my expectations, while they are the ones giving the “advice” and explaining what they know. It’s a very empowering way to talk about music class.
Topics covered include:
*I have tried to use a variety of different instruments in the scenarios, as well as diverse names.
