This year I revived my unit on recorder. I was waiting for my more advanced group of students to reach 5th grade before attempting the recorder again. The result was a very mixed barrel of skills but showed me a lot about where each of them are in their music skills.
With an emphasis on data in my school I needed more evidence of their growth and also help in understanding why some of my students were struggling. The data I collected from this assessment was really valuable in understanding why students were having issues in playing their recorders.
I came upon a recorder assessment similar to this but I was not fond of the layout for my visual learners and the language used in the questions was not the best for my ELL students either, so I created my own.
This is great for a homework assignment or in-class assessment
