This project is perfect for any beginning chemistry students learning more about the periodic table and specific elements. This project is easy enough for older elementary school students but is also complex enough for middle school students or for high school chemistry students at the very beginning of the year.
In this research project, students research one element in-depth and present information on their element in a great classroom display that can be hung around the classroom. Once students have become an expert on one element, they present their knowledge to their classmates.
While doing this project students will learn about an element's:
- Element Symbol
- Atomic Number
- Atomic Weight
- # of Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons
- Phase at Room Temperature
- Boiling Point
- Melting Point
- Where, when, and how the element was discovered
- Where it can be found either in nature or man-made products
- Several interesting facts.
Students can use the internet or books in order to find information on their element.
Students will love doing this project, and so will you, as it is very low prep and it keeps students extremely engaged.
