Teaching Basic Keyboarding Skills to young students in Kindergarten, first, and second grades can be one of the most challenging tasks teachers can face!
This PowerPoint activity will help you teach your students the basics of computer keyboarding and letter recognition with ease. With embedded videos starring a cute monster “friend,” most of your students will be able to work independently which will allow you to support kids who may need a little more attention.

Your students will be introduced to each of the nine home row letter keys, the semicolon, space bar and enter key! For each key they will work through the following activities:
✨ Introduction to the key with correct finger placement
✨ Reminder of Enter key and Spacebar functions
✨ Type the Letter – three lines with spaces
✨ Type the Letter – complete three letter words with the missing target letter
✨ Sort the Letters – drag and drop the target letter on a table and other letters into a trash can. Letters are formatted in different fonts and colors to help strengthen letter recognition.
The majority of your students will be able to work independently with the embedded short video guiding them through a new activity or concept!/strong>
This unit is a no prep and paperless which is a win-win for you! Your students will love working with online interactive resources!
