Practice beginning digraphs with this fun and engaging phonics game for interactive whiteboards (SMARTBoard, Promethian, Mimio) and computer stations. There are eight themes to choose from which makes the game fun for any time of year. The themes are: Sunny Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter, Superhero, Western and Pirate.
Students complete each word by figuring out the missing digraph and touch the bee that is carrying that digraph. If correct, the bee will fly to the blank spaces, fill in the letters and then cheer and fly into the bee hive. Students can compete to see who can build the biggest hive or work together to make a happy hive full of spelling bees!
FANTASTIC FEATURE #1 – Customize to set the Difficulty
There are 43 words in this game divided into five digraph categories. You can customize the game to use from 2 to all 5 digraphs depending on how challenging you would like to make the game.
FANTASTIC FEATURE #2 – Self Correcting
Students will know right away if they have chosen the correct digraph. If correct, the bee will fly to the blank spaces and complete the word. If incorrect, the bee will fly away.
FANTASTIC FEATURE #3 – 8 Fun Themes
I have included 8 different themes to choose from so that you can surprise your students with fun bee characters that dress up in costumes.

How to Play
Whole Class Cooperation
- The class works together answering questions on the interactive whiteboard to figure out the words and build a hive full of bees. Determine how long you will play or set a goal for the number of bees to collect before you start the game.Have one student at a time come up to the interactive whiteboard and answer a question by touching the bee that is carrying the missing letters.
Small group or single player
– Played on a computer workstation, PC or Mac
Start the game on a computer and allow the student(s) to play for a certain length of time. If you want to create a competition between students, record their scores on a piece of paper or blackboard and see who can collect the most bees for their hive in a defined amount of time.
