Purpose: To practice beginning sounds and blending 3 sounds together to form words.
Beginning Sound Clip Cards - 22 worksheets (2 problems each) - students can either circle the correct beginning sound (a great option would be to laminate the cards for a reading center and use a dry erase pen) or clip the correct beginning letter with small clothespins (cards can be cut apart.) You can also provide paper or white boards to have the students sound out the words after they decide the beginning sound.
Beginning Sound Match - 11 worksheets (4 problems each) - students draw lines to match the picture with the beginning sound that belongs to it.
Blending - 4 worksheets (3 problems each) - each problem has 3 pictures - students write the beginning sound or sound blend under each picture and then use those letters to blend it into a new word. (i.e., Butterfly, Ant, Tree = BAT)
Uses: homework, whole or small group instruction, reading centers, extra time practice, morning work, etc.
