Teaching Kindergarten or First Graders who are learning their beginning letter sounds? If you said yes, you have some students who take all year long to learn letter sounds. Make learning beginning letter sounds engaging with this noncompetitive game your students will love. Letter sound practice has never been this fun.

This letter sound activity is perfect for whole group or small group time. It is a great activity to use when you have a student tutor working with a group or a parent volunteer. It is also perfect to tuck in your SUB TUB and great to have on hand in your absence. The best part is that all students have the same exact gameboard and win at the same time. No tears if a student doesn't win the game.

How To Prepare & Play:
Copy game board sheet so each student gets a copy. I always copy and enlarge so it prints on 11x17" paper so the pictures and spaces are appropriately sized. Slice apart into thirds on a paper cutter. Print the letter cards of your choice. I print these on card stock and laminate for added durability. Cut into fourths, mix them up, and put face down in a pond/pile for picking. Students each get a gameboard and can use a highlighter, yellow crayon, or even a pile of mini erasers. Teacher, tutor, or parent picks a letter card from the pond, students identify the letter, and whole group colors the space that has the corresponding picture that begins with that letter sound. The goal is to get 5 in a row highlighted to "win". However, due to a single game board, all students win at the same time. Students can shout out "Five In a Row" when they color five boxes that "are touching".
