In this activity students draw a picture card. They then have to sort it based on the picture and the letter on the card. For instance, if they choose a frog picture card and the letter f is on the card, they would place that card on the beginning sound mat. However, if it is a frog card with the letter g on it, they would place the card on the ending sound mat. This is a great activity to provide students with practice identifying sounds and where they are in words. This activity works on identifying consonant sounds. In this file you will find three sorting mats (beginning, middle, and end), colored picture cards with the letter of the sound students must identify, and twelve different cut and paste worksheets that correspond to the activity. Lots of great word work resources in one file! Print cards and mats on card stock and laminate for durability. Great to use year after year as this is a skill that ALL students need to acquire. Please feel free to ask any questions before purchase! ENJOY!
