A great listening and critical thinking game that can be played in teams! Teams will race to figure out what song they have received and then to put the measures in order. Each card includes treble clef, alto clef, and bass clef. This is a great activity for reinforcing the Key of C.
Notes are color coded to facilitate students learning to read notes on the staff. I started using this color coded system five years ago, and it has made a world of difference in my teaching!

Directions for assembly and game play:
- Print enough sets for each group of three. Use cardstock if you plan to reuse them from year to year.
- To make collection and distribution easier, place a matching sticker or other mark on each set before cutting them in half. (One team will get all of the frog sticker cards. Another team will get all of the cat sticker cards. Etc. If the cards get mixed up, it will be easier to divide them back into sets with the matching stickers.) Each 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" card will include one measure only. Lamination is recommended.
- Pass out one set for each group of three.
- Remind students that the measures feature F-naturals, and remind them to read the correct clef for their instrument.
- If students get stuck, ask them where the time signature and final double bar line should be. As a last resort, you can also give them the song title, but I rarely have to do this!
- Game generally takes 10-15 minutes to complete.
Game can be modified for band and other instrumental music classes. It can also be used in private lessons as well! Great for summer music camps!
