Placemat consensus is a cooperative learning activity. This includes 8 probability questions of varied difficulty levels and an answer key. This placemat consensus with built in questions for the beginning probability allow students work on their own first to organize their thinking before collaborating with their group or teammates. This can be used to wrap up the week, lesson, or to check for understanding before moving to the next topic. From my experiences while using this activity, students like the quiet think time to process the problem in their own way.
