Beginning Reading and writing Using Word Patterns
This introductory package is designed to aid the children to move from oral to written language and to reading. Patterns of language that are familiar to the children in their oral language are used coupled with the need to either complete the pattern using words provided or to repeat the supplied pattern in answer to a question. Other activities require the children to follow directions involving words previously introduced. The pages include pictures in uncolored outline format to foster extra fine motor activity by providing coloring opportunities. As young children often have difficulty reading instructions at the top of worksheets, this information is included in the contents section of this package.
A resource, “Word Patterns” which contains many more of these exercises and other similar material, is available at our shopfront. Other resources suitable for this age group can also be found in the kenandnick shopfront and more material is being added all the time.
