This is a great lesson to use for teaching beginning writers to write sequence narrative paragraphs. I use it with my first graders, but it could be used with kindergarteners or second graders as well.
As we go over each criterion in the Proofreading Checklist, I have my students make tally marks on the lines for each error or put a checkmark in the box if there are no errors for that criterion. This way, they have a record of each type of error and can correct it independently. I have also used the Proofreading Checklist to have students peer edit and as a rubric when I grade their final drafts. I often reprint only the last page for my students' successive drafts.
