Thanks for checking out First Grade Cupcakes!
This is a great packet to use for teaching beginning writers to write sequence narrative paragraphs. I use it with my first graders, but it could be used with kindergarteners or second graders as well.
I use the first set to model and have my students copy what I write. I use the second set to have my students help me write a complete paragraph. On the third set, my students write independently as I check their work and give feedback. On the last set, my students are completely independent, and I can use it to assess their work.
As we go over each criterion in the Proofreading Checklist, I have my students make tally marks on the lines for each error or put a checkmark in the box if there are no errors for that criterion. This way, they have a record of each type of error and can correct it independently. I have also used the Proofreading Checklist to have students peer edit and as a rubric when I grade their final drafts. I often reprint only the last page for my students' successive drafts.
I hope you find this product useful. If so, check out my Middle Sequence Paragraph Packet and Expert Sequence Paragraph Packet to continue challenging your writers. Enjoy!
