This is the first in a series of four files that systematically introduce fifty common sight words for beginning non-readers. In our kindergarten classroom, we introduce one sight word per day while teaching segmenting and blending CVC words. We use these worksheets as follow-up for both classroom and home practice. The introduced sight word is at the top of the page. Children copy the sight word into each of the three sentences on the page. As a class we read the sentences together. If time allows we have each child read at least one sentence to an adult. Worksheets are placed into a folder and sent home to practice reading at night. By the end of introducing the 50 sight words students have a "practice book" that they can utilize during vacation periods to practice reading. In addition to the sight words, CVC words are included in the sentences for the children to blend.
