These cute and colorful poke cards are a fun way for your children to practice their beginning sounds. They are wonderful to put in a learning center because the children can work INDEPENDENTLY and then self-check their answer right on the spot to see if they’re correct! It is a perfect activity for those early finishers in your class or for children who need a little extra practice with beginning sounds.
Have the child look at the picture on the card, “poke the dot” next to the letter that corresponds to the picture’s beginning sound with a straw, pipe cleaner, pencil, etc. and then flip the card over. If their object is going through the hole that has a circle around it, they are correct!
This set includes two poke cards for each letter. I have included both a short and long vowel picture for each vowel, and I have also included two pictures that show both sounds of letter x: x-ray and xylophone. This resource also includes “Poke-A-Dot” labels to attach to an envelope or Ziploc bag for storage.
I hope you and your class enjoy these beginning sound poke cards!
