These actvities are all aligned with the kindergarten common core standards. The focus is Reading Standards Foundational Skills Phonics and Word Recognition:
K.RF.3- Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
K.RF.3a- Demonstrate basic knowledge of one to one letter sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
The activities include:
Sound Cards: 2 Versions. Clip cards and dry erase boards.
Matching Games: Uppercase, Lowercase and 2 picture cards
Matching Boards: Color versions for file folder games. Black and white versions for individual practice. Letter Scoop version using ice cream cones (B&W)
Letter Boards: Use magnet letters to match the beginning sounds. As an alternative, have children write with dry erase markers.
Picture Sort: Black and white versions with three letters each. Colored letter cards and picture cards to use for a sorting activity. (There are about 6 pictures for each letter. There are no color picture cards for x and only one each for y and z)
