This product includes two fun, brightly colored games to get your students working on identifying the beginning sounds in words.
Print out the Clip-it letter strips, cut, then laminate them. Add some clothespins and you’re ready to go. For the Bingo game, print out, cut, and laminate the game cards and playing pieces. Add some counters to be used to cover the letters on the gameboard and get ready for some fun!!
Students will identify the 3 words that start with the target letter sound by clipping a paper clip to each picture. To make this activity self-checking add a small dot to the back of each card behind the pictures that should be clipped. Note: letter ‘x’ only has 2 pictures that begin with ‘x’. The remainder of the cards all have 3 pictures that begin with the target letter sound.
Pass out the gameboards to the students. Make a pile of the picture cards. One student turns over the top card, says the name of the picture, and then identifies what letter the word starts with. Any student with that letter on their gameboard may cover it with a counter. Continue the game until one student covers their gameboard (or makes a line vertically or horizontally). I have included 2 pictures for each letter sound (only the hard ‘c’ and ‘g’ sounds are included, as well as each vowel is represented with 2 short sound pictures).
I hope that you and your students enjoy playing and learning with these games!!
