Beginning Sounds (C and J) Write the Room - Literacy Centers ---
This resource includes two pages of numbered pictures in color with six cards per page. Each numbered card has a picture that begins with either /c/ or /j/. There are 12 total numbered cards. Six pictures begin with /c/ and six pictures begin with /j/.
The 12 pictures included are candy, juice, cookie, cupcake, jacket, jet, jump rope, jelly, caterpillar, jeans, cap, and can.
Teachers should copy the cards on cardstock (for durability and saving for future years) or plain paper, laminate (if desired), cut apart, and then post the cards around the room. If you don't want students walking around the room, the cards can be put in a center such as at the writing center or in a pocket chart.
***Recording sheets for two different levels of students are included to provide for differentiation of students/groups.
On the first recording sheet, there are 12 spaces. Each space has two boxes with c and j written in them. Students are to either color or circle the correct beginning sound to match the pictures on the cards.
On the second recording sheet, there are 12 spaces. Each space has one blank box in it. Students are to write the letter to correctly match the beginning sound for each picture on the cards.
For an even higher level or if students finish early, two numbered writing sheets (1-6 and 7-12) with plain lines are provided for students to create and write a sentence for each picture on the cards.
Answer keys are provided for the recording sheets either as a self-check for students or for the teacher to have an answer key to quickly check papers.
***There are 8 total pages including two answer keys: 2 card pages (12 total cards), 2 recording sheets, 2 answer keys to the recording sheets, and 2 lined pages for writing sentences.
