This resource includes Six Activities and Two Printables. Open the preview to see each activity in action and learn how to implement them. They can be used independently or with partners. I use them for guided reading as well, because it is easy to prep multiple copies of each game. While the printables are great as a review or morning work. This resource is in color only. No blackline included. It can be printed in grayscale. The printables are black and white.
1. Feed The Alien:
Students will use the images in the mat to find the beginning sound of the matching word and feed the letter to the Alien.Comes with 3 mats, 26 individual letter tiles and the cut off alien.
Students slide the strips up and down to match the image with the beginning sound in the center of the rocket. It comes with 6 different strip sets. Each set has one letter strip and one image strip. They’re numbered at the top to keep track of them.
Students will cover the image that matches the sound of the letters at the top of the mat. It does not come with a recording sheet.It comes with 7 mats and an answer sheet. The mats are numbered to easily keep track. Answer key included.
4. Wrong Sounds Cards:
This activity can be used two different ways: either cover up the correct beginning sound that matches the letter at the top OR cover up the wrong beginning sound. I use it to cover the wrong sound. But you decide how you want to use it. It comes with one card per alphabet letter (26 cards total). No recording sheets for this activity. The cards are not numbered. Each card is about 4 x 5 inches and they come four per page.
5. Write & Wipe Mats:
Students write the letter that represents the beginning sound of the image shown. Put it in a clear dry-erase pocket or laminate it. I use wet erase markers, but erase work just as well. 6 different mats are included. No recording sheet. The mats are numbered to easily keep track.
Use this one with magnetic letters or the letter tiles included with the Feed The Alien activity. Students place the letter corresponding to the beginning sound of the image.3 different mats are included. No recording sheet. The mats are numbered to keep track of them.
7.Cut & Glue:
This is a printable activity. The students cut and glue the letters that corresponds to the beginning sound of the image. Use it as a review, morning work or homework. 4 sheets are included plus an answer key.
8.Color the Letter:
This is a printable activity. The students Color in the letter that represents the beginning sound of the image. Use it as a review, morning work or homework.3 sheets are included plus an answer key.
An alphabet chart is included to use as a reference.
10. Word List:
