This set of clip cards is designed to have students work with beginning sounds. It features an image and kids mark the letter that the word begins with. There are three different styles of cards and each one contains a different word (with the exception of x which has 3 different images, but x-ray is represented twice). In all you will get 72 clip cards in color. I have also included a free set in black and white for those that need to use less ink, who don’t have access to a color printer, or who would like to color them (or have their students color them).
Clip cards are designed to be used with clothes pins. It is recommended that you print them out on cardstock and laminate them for durability. Provide clothes pins (you get get them at the Dollar store or even find mini ones in the scrapbooking section of craft stores). Students use the clothespins to mark their answer on the card. If you want to make them self correcting you can place a sticker on the back (before or after laminating) to mark the answer.
Don’t want to use clothes pins? You can also use these in a variety of other ways. Print them on paper and use them as worksheets. Use them with paper clips instead of clothespins. You can also provide whiteboard markers so students can mark (and erase) their answers on laminated cards. You could also provide textile items to have them mark their answer with such as pom poms or even beans.
This activity is good for students learning their letter sounds and is usually a skill learned in pre-school and kindergarten.
