Students group 5-6 ice cream cones with the capital and lowercase picture on them with a picture with three ice cream scoops with three beginning sounds pictures on them. Then they fill out a student response sheet for all 5-6 cones and scoops. Kids LOVE this center and it's imperative for students to know back and forth, forth and back their beginning sounds....and that's what my beginning sound centers all help with. I had kids reading within a month! Try it out...you'll love it!
Easy to cut...can use paper cutter....LOVE!
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.3a Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
Students distinguish beginning sounds using ice cream cones that each have a letter (capital and lowercase) as well as a picture on them that starts with that letter. Their job is to find three ice cream scoops with pictures on them that start with the letter on the ice cream cone.
See preview for detailed pictures and instructions. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
There is also student response sheets for students to finish as they finish their center.
This is also an "easy cut" center that you can cut with a paper cutter to save you time.
Kids LOVE this....even the student response sheets!
