Product Description
Throughout PreK and Kindergarten, we work hard to help our students master letter recognition and letter sounds. Building this relationship is a critical step in setting the foundation for learning to read and write. It is important for students to be able to quickly identify letter names and know the sounds that they make.

Good news! This resource is part of a BUNDLE! Check it out here: Beginning Sounds BUNDLE.

These activities are super easy to prep! Just print, laminate, and cut along the straight lines. They make great morning work tubs, fast finisher activities, or literacy centers.

There are 26 letter card headers and 6 matching pictures for each picture. (Please note the letter Xx includes two options. There are 6 picture cards that end with Xx sound and two picture cards that begin with the Xx sound.) Picture names for all activities are included.

To complete the activity, students will match the picture cards to the letter card header. Students can complete this activity using a pocket chart or on the carpet. Students can use the picture cards to play a memory game or a small group game (directions are included in the packet).

You can also have students practice their phonemic awareness skills by simply matching pictures that have the same beginning sound.

These cards also are great to use for partner cards. Ahead of time set aside the cards that you will need, making sure that each card has a matching pair. Pass a card out to each student and have them find their matching pair. Those two students become partners in the activity ahead.

It is a good idea to begin this activity in a small group teacher led setting so that students can become familiar with the correct picture names.
