This colorful and fun interactive PowerPoint activity reinforces beginning sounds. This segment includes the vowels: A, E, I, O, and U
On each slide, the child is presented with 10 pictures. When they click on a picture that begins with that sound, they are rewarded with the spoken word and an animation. If they click on an incorrect picture, a simple buzzing sound is made, and there is no animation or spoken word to reward them. At any time the child can click on the letter itself, for a reminder of the phonetic sound the letter makes. Once they have identified all of the correct pictures (between 3 and 7 per slide), they click the apple to go back and choose a different letter. At any time, click the eraser to exit. This activity works really well on an interactive white board (such as a SMARTBoard) because the little ones love to come up and touch the picture that begins with a B.
Like all interactive activities, this one works best with adult guidance, but there is no danger of the child messing up this document by clicking on the wrong thing. When you exit, and then go back in, all is reset.
There are 6 of this series available: A-E, F-J, K-O, P-T, U-Z, and Vowels.
Phonics and traditional letter sounds are both used in the presentations.
I originally created this as one huge PowerPoint document, but with the entire alphabet (A-Z), the file was 64 megabytes in size, which is too large for the TPT website. So I have been forced to break the document into segments to sell it on TPT. If you want the A-Z file, you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for paypal details. I will mail you a copy on a CD for $10 (includes shipping).
