Word hunts are a great way to get your kiddos actively engaged in writing! Even the most reluctant of writers will have a ball searching your room for the word cards! Here’s what you’ll need to do:
• Print, cut, and laminate the word cards. (Choose either color or black & white.)
• Choose the recording sheet that best fits the needs of your kiddos and make copies.
• Hang the word cards around your classroom.
• Let your kiddos start hunting! Every time they find a word card, they copy that word onto their recording sheet.
This activity is great for your writing center and works best if you have clipboards for your kiddos to use.
If you don’t want your kiddos walking around the room to hunt for words, here are some alternatives for places you can put the word cards:
• In a sensory bin.
• In a paper bag.
• Inside a “feely” box
