This unit was designed primarily for special education students who may not have the fine motor skills necessary to write, but can recognize or learn to recognize the difference between nouns, adjectives, ending punctuation, etc.
In this unit, students should be given a choice between different noun pictures. There are 48 noun picture cards. Students are to glue the selected pictures into the boxes on one of the five different sentence templates. This could also be used as a folder activity.
When working with this activity, I have found that most students are able to glue the picture into the box. Therefore, what I track is if the student is able to read each sentence independently, with assistance, or if they look at the words or pictures.
In working with my students, this activity has been a great introduction to “writing” sentences.
