What Did You Do This Summer?
The two things that generate the most student excitement about coming back to school are catching up with friends and talking about what they did over the summer! Channel that enthusiasm into a fun, engaging project that allows students to create and share word art depicting what they did over the summer.
Bonus: This activity challenges students to use a minimum of 30 unique verbs and 30 unique nouns and to double-check their spelling when they create their lists, making this a perfect informal assessment for teachers who want to get a quick understanding of their students basic ELA skills the first week of school.
This activity also prompts students to use word art, graphics, doodles, and illustrations -- giving teachers a good idea of who their go-to artists and kinesthetic learners are!
This 8-page freebie includes:
-2 Student Worksheets
-1 Sample Project
-Optional 40-point Rubric
