Product Description
This posting is a set of SmartBoard slides to be used at the beginning of the year. It includes a slide asking the class what they think the rules of the room should be, where you can write their responses. Then on the next slide, there is a chart with three columns titled Respect Yourself, Respect Others, and Respect the Environment along with moveable sentences telling common rules the kids usually come up with, such as "Don't hit." The students sort all the rules into those three categories.

There is also a writing prompt relating to what they are excited, scared, and looking forward to in second grade. This will allow you to both see their responses and assess their beginning writing skills.

The next slide is a place to write all the names of the students in your class for them to copy onto a blank bingo card to play Name-O! The rules are the same as regular bingo, but you use the children's names instead of calling a number out. I sometimes would have the students stand or raise their hand when I called their names to help everyone put names to faces.

Lastly, there is a slide with the instructions for making a sunflower glyph. Give your students construction paper, scissors, glue, and crayons (or markers) and follow the instructions on the slide for an adorable sunflower glyph, perfect for decorating the classroom or hallway with for a beginning of the year parents' night or open house!
