Save yourself some planning time! This lesson is geared towards upper elementary thru 8th grades science students that are just starting out the school year. You can use this lesson to build upon basics, get to know your students, and as a reference all year long. Students will use cards with words for specific traits to help them determine what a real scientist is like. This activity is flexible in that it can apply to any domain or content in science. The cards will be sorted into a venn diagram, recorded, discussed, and become a short writing assignment.
This lesson will make a great first entry into an interactive notebook. My file is EDITABLE in word so you can customize the words, diagrams, fonts, and labels to your preferences. There are 21 pages of resource material for this activity and 64 trait words already created for you. All you need to provide is yarn or hula hoops.
