Take a look at 18 different sign ins for the beginning of the school year.
As a part of my first graders morning routine, they sign in each morning. They think it is to let me know they are present for the day and aid with attendance. It is, but more importantly it is allowing them to read and write for a purpose.
At the beginning of the first grade, I always started with some light reading at the top, with no specific response. These beginning of the year sign ins pave the way for the next type of sign ins where they have to read and answer a question to informally assess their learning. If you are interested in that type of sign in, check out Beginning Sound Sign Ins
This product allows you to edit parts of it. You are able to edit the table to fit as many boxes as you need. Currently, there are 24 boxes for 24 students OR 23 students and a box for you. I always signed in as well. You may edit the table just like you edit any other table, adding rows or deleting them. You may also edit the line after DATE and DAY. I always printed my sign ins and wrote the date at the top, as well as the number of days we had been in school. You could print it with the lines and do it like me or you could go in and erase the line typing the date and day before printing.
