Start off the year right by teaching your students how to read with these printable emergent readers! These readers are great to use in class or to send home with students to practice at home. The dots below the words help students learn concept of word. I used the dots in my classroom last year and my students seemed to learn concept of word much quicker than previous years.
Print a copy for each student. Cut and staple together. In front of students, introduce new words, model how to read the book by touching the dots, and how to figure out words by looking at the picture. Have students color the pictures & read as a class or to a friend. Students then place books in their "book boxes" to continue practicing when finished early with work or during centers/Daily 5 or send home with students to practice reading to their families.
